THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
I * j SUGGESTED OPENING FUNCTION. It is proposed to open the Pukekohe ] ■ Technical School on July 4th. In a ■ letter to the Borough Council the Rev. F. B. Dobson, Secretary to the School » Committee, breezily set out (in a letter • to the Mayor) a suggested programme. " " The School Committee," he wrote, I " want to interest folk in the Manual ' Training Centre. The ratepayers want to let folk know that we have a Mayer, Town Council, and borough. Gn the f ' fourth of July' the Franklin County; . Council meet for the first time : they jj 1 ought also to be honoured. I have ' suggested to Mr Lawrie (Chairman of the School Committee) that we have ] a combined function on July 4th. caiv to can go to the Man MI at 11am and see the | CounclH Rting. Then perhaps we 'could arranw for a lui.ch. At 2 30., or thereabouts, we could arrange for a procession to the school. Then tho Chairman of the School Committee .would ask Mr Garland, Chairman of 1 the Board, to tpen the Manual TrainB Centre. Mr George George would us all about it. Mr Mulgan d tell us about the rural course .....i the laboiatory which it has t-iken so long to get under weigh. Then some public-spirited individual cou'd say what a good thing it is to have a Borough Council, to which you would would reply and go on, as Mayor of Pukekohe, to welcome the new County Council, to which tho County Chairman would reply. Then we would sing "Gol Save the King" and " Praise God from whom all Blessings Flow," have a cup of tea and think what jolly good fellows we all are." The Council agreed that this " was not at all a bad programme" and agreed to assist at the function.
