The Gun and Rod Olub lield a j meeting on Thursday when there was I a shooting competition for throe prizes. There was a tie between Messrs Rupert King and P. V. Flexman (8 birds each) and on firing off again the latter won by a point, J Haufling 3rd. Conditions 10 shots. At the annual meeting of the Waiuku members of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, the local master, Mr E. T. Bent, presided. The treasurer's report showed a substantial balance in hand. The following office bearers w<*re appointed: —Master, Mr T. E. Bent (reelected); deputy-master. Mr C. J. Hosking ; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. J. Hosking (re-elected); committee, Messrs A. May, E Barriball, L. Mellsop, G-. Carrie, H. Jefferies, J. H Herrold and A. M. Barriball. On Sunday evening the Rev. E. Vaughau touched on the recent sad shipping disaster, and the prayers of all were asked for the bereaved relations of those who perished. We have three fine Lux Lamps in our main street, but alas there are some nights on which they don't send out their rays. Consequently several people have had falls iuto mud holes and have got home with soiled cloties and ruffled tempers. Where is the Road Board? School Committee. At the annual meeting of householders, there were present:—Messrs C. T. Barriball (in the chair), C. H. Greenhetd (secretary). A. M. Birriball, J. A. Albrecht, R. Honey, S. P. Henry and J. B Copeland. The report stated : —" For the year ending 31st March, all matters in connection with the schools under the Committee's control have been most satisfactory. Inspectors reports have been favourable showing that the teachers pay great attention to their work, scholarships having been obtained by the Central and Kariotahi Schools. There has been considerable increase in the attendance at some of the schools and extra assistants have been obtained. Improvements have been effected in nearly all the schools. A new teacher's residence has been built at Aka Aka, and gardens were fenced off and attendel to by pupils. Considerable improvements have been effected at the Central School grounds by felling the pine trees which had become unsightly and had caused the tanks and spouting to be stopped up with pine needles. A new fence had been erected in front of the school and more tar and sand is under order for for the asphalting of the play ground. The finances are in a sound condition, a good balance being in hand. . There was* no competition for office on the Committee and the old Committee remains in office :—Messrs C. T. Barriball (Chairman), A. M. Barriball (Treasurer), C. H. Greenhead (Secretary), S. P. Henry, R. Honey, J. B. "Copeland and J. A. Albrecht.
