LOCAL AND GENERAL.

"We nothing extenuate, nor ; set down aught in malice." i

Leaders, local ami district news, and other matter crushed out Annual mooting of the Pukekohe West Road District ratepayers at the Oddfellows' hall, at 2 p.ra, to-day Messrs. W. Dunn & Sons, Pukekohe, the premier poultry breeders, have a lot of gold medal Leghorns and Wyandottes for sale. Their advertisement will appear next week. The " black and white" night at the Pnkekohe Skating Eink was very enjoyable. Mr Twidle reports increasing interest in this exhilarating pastime, which promises to prove very popular in Pkekohe this winter. We desire to draw special attention to the clearing sale of the live and dead stock of Mr IT. Barber, junr., by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. Full particulars appear in the advertisement. The sale offers special opportunities to buyers. Sale takes place at Puni, at 11.00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th. About thirty members of the Farmers' Union had an enjoyable day at Helvetia Ostrich Farm on Saturday. The visitors were most hospitably entertained, the art of ostrich feathpr raising was studied, and running events for substantial prizes made the afternoon one of excitement and interest, as well as of instruction. It was a desperately bad day on Sunday but the church parade of the i M.U.1.0.0.F., at the Methodist i church, was well attended. The Town l Band, under Mr McMahon, played i "Onward Ohiistian Soldiers," and " Lead Kindly Light," accompanied by the congregation singing. The < Rev E. P, Blamires preached an i appropriate sermon. After the ser- 1 vice the members of the Band were the guests of the Oddfellows at dinner I at Mrs McGovera's. i
