PROFICIENCY TESTS.

DISTRICT PASSES. List of Successful Scholars. The proficiency examinations in connection with the Putaruru District High School were held on Friday. Mr. Moreland, inspector under the Auckland Education Board, conducted the examinations. The standard in reading, composition and arithmetic was raised 5 per cent., except that a lower standard was accepted where special excellence was shown in English or French. The following were successful:— Proficiency.—Ralph Benton, Collier Sinclair, Albert Hall, Harry Thompson, Ralph Winter, Joyce Hooper, Minnie Rossiter, Constance Richards, Clarice Woodgate. Competency.—Norman Hunt, George Kay, Keith Wood. The following scholars passed the proficiency examinations at the schools named'— Lichfield.—Lincoln Bowman, Guy Dunlop. Puketurua. Cliff Norrie, Lorna Hilreth. Arapuni.—Francis Bromley, Ruby Allen.
