MORRINSVILLE. There was an average yarding of cattle and store pigs at Dalgety and Co.’s Morrinsville sale on Friday. An extra choice pen of yearling heifers on account of Mr. G. Were sold at £8 a head. Prices were:— Cattle. — Heavy fat cows, £8 10s to £9 2s. Light fat heifers, £6 5s to £7 ss. Forward conditioned cows, £4 10s to £5 2s 6d. Store cows, £3 10s to £4 3s. Boners, 30s to £2 15s. Cows and calves, £4 5s to £4 15s. Yearling Jersey heifers, £3 15s to £4 Bs. Yearling Jersey bulls, £5 to £6 ss. 2- Year-old Jersey bulls, £5 to £7 10s. Aged bulls, £4 to £5 ss. Jersey heifers, £9 10s to £l2. Holstein heifers, £8 to £9 ss. Cows, £8 to £8 15s. Calved heifers, £8 5s to £9 10s. Sheep.— Fat hoggets, 21s. Fat ewes, 12s 6d. Pigs.— Store pigs, 35s to 395. Slips, 28s to 31s. Weeqers, 18s to 245. WAIHOU. At the Farmers Auctioneering Co.’s Waihou sale on Friday there was a heavy yarding of cattle and a small yarding of sheep. Prices were again easier on all classes. There was a good yarding of fat and store pigs, the whole yarding changing hands at late rates. A small number of dairy cows was penned, choice heifers selling well. Beef.— Fat cows, heavy £9 to £9 17s 6d; medium £7 to £8 10s; light, £5 5s to £6 15s. Forward conditioned cows, £4 5s to £5. Fresh store cows, £2 5s to £3. Boners, £1 to £2. Cows and runners, £9. Small 2-year steers, £3 to £4 10s. Two-year heifers, empty, £2 15s to £4. Yearling Jersey heifers, best £4 12s to £6 7s; poorer sorts, £1 to £3 10s. Shorthorn heifers, £3. Service bulls, £4 to £B. Dairy Cattje.— Choice Friesian heifers, £lO 15s to £ll 15s. Light £2 2s to £2 ss. Slips, 30s to 335. Weaners, 18s to 255. TIRAU. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Tirau sale on Thursday a full yarding of all classes of cattle came forward. Beef and store cattle were penned in large numbers, practically everything changing hands at slightly easier rates. A total of 470 yearling heifers were penned, and although bidding was not brisk a good number were sold under the hammer, and privately afterwards at a further decline on late quotations. Beef.— Medium fat cows, £6 4s to £7 2s 6d. Forward-conditioned cows, £4 15s to £5 10s. Store cows, £2 5s to £3 17s 6d. Boners, £1 to £1 2s 6d. Jersey bulls, £3 to £4 10s 6d. Dairy Cattle.— Shorthorn heifers, springing, £7 to £B. Backward heifers, £5 to £6. Choice yearling Jersey heifers, £3 7s to £6 7s 6d. Friesian heifers, £4 13s. Sheep.— Fat hoggets, 16s 3d to 17s 6d. WAIHOU BULL SALE. At the Waihou bull sale last week there was good competition for good quality pedigree and grades and the prices were better than those of previous bull sales. Prices were:— Pedigree Jerseys.— 3- to 5-year made 17gns to 24gna. Others, llgns to 16gns. 2-year, lOgns to 18gns. Others, sgns to 9gns. Yearlings, 16gns to 27gns. Others, Bgns to 15gns. Grade Bulls.— Jersey bulls, 3-year to 4-year, £ll 10s to £l4, Jersey 2-year-olds, £9 to £l6. Jersey yearlings, £ll to £l3. Shorthorii bulls, yearlings, £8 10s to £ll 15s. Others, £5 5s to £6 10s. Aged bulls, £2 10s to £4 15s. MATAMATA. Dalgety and Company held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday. Beef cattle were penned in average numbers, which met with fair sale, though bidding was very slow. There was a
large yarding of store pigs. Prices were:— Beef.— Fat cows £8 12s to £9 2s 6d. Lighter sorts £5 15s to £7 15s. Fat heifers £7 to £8 2s 6d. Lighter sorts £5 10s to £6 ss. Store cows £4 to £4 17s 6d. Others £2 to £3 ss. Two-year Jersey heifers £3 to £4 15s. Yearling Jersey heifers £4 10s to £4 16s. Others £3 to £3 10s. Bulls, good two-year Jersevs. £8 10s to £9. Smaller rougher sorts £3 5s to £5 ss. Dairy.— Good dairy heifers £lO 10s t« £l2. Later rougher sorts £7 15s to £8 10s. Shorthorn heifers £5 10s to £7 ss. Pigs.— Porkers up to 475. Large stores 38s to 445. Slips 28s to 355. Weaners, best, 21s to 255. Smaller sorts 16s to 19s. Sheep.— Fat hoggets 20s. Fresh-conditioned wethers 245. HAMILTON. At the Frankton stock sale on Tuesday beef was penned in large numbers, but a smaller entry of cow beef came forward. Competition was not keen and a decrease was noted for ox beef and poorer-quality cow beef. Good cow beef sold on a par with late rates. A full yarding of stores came forward but met with poor competition. A drop in prices for fat sheep was noted. There was an average yarding. A medium entry of fat pigs did not meet with the demand of last week and prices showed a slight decrease on recent rates. Store and weaner pigs were penned in average numbers and prices were a little easier than at recent sales. Sheep.— Fat woolly wethers 28s 3d. Light fat woolly wethers 23s 6d to 255. Fat shorn wethers 21s. Prime fat ewes 14s. Fat hoggets 20s Id. Fat lambs 19s Id to 21s 3d. Cattle.— Heavy fat bullocks £l3 16s to £l4 12s 6d. Medium £l2 to £l3 7s 6d. Light £9 3s to £lO 19s. Heavy fat cows £lO 6s to £lO 14s.
