Stock Sales.

MATAMATA. The TYiiners’ Aueticneering Co. held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when there were very large yardings of all classes of cattle, prices being generally a trifle easier all round. An extra large yarding of yearling Jersey heifers sold at easier rates. A medium yarding of fat pigs and a full yarding of stores met with spirited bidding and changed hands at late rates. Prices were:— Beef.— Prime fat heifers, up to £l2 6s. Heavy fat cows, £9 15s to £ll 13s. Fat cows, £8 10s to £9 ss. Lighter fat cows, £6 2s 6d to £7 12s 6d. Forward conditioned cows, £4 5s to £6 Is. Store cows, £3 2s 6d to £4 15s. Boner cows, 25s to £2 10s. Cows with calves, £2 to £6 ss. Yearling steers, £2 to £3 4s. Service bulls, £5 to £7. Dairy Cattle.— Choice yearling Jersey heifers, £5 5s to £6 Bs. Best Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers, £9 10s to £ll. » Other yearling heifers, £2 to £4 15s. Fat ewes, 15s. Store ewes, Ss. MORKINSVILLE. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Morrinsville sale on Friday a heavy yarding of cattle and a medium yarding of sheep were penned. The yarding again included several good lines of fat bullocks, and although prices were easier, most of them were sold under the hammer or privately. Rates were slightly easier on sheep and beef. There was a full yarding of fat and store pigs, the total yarding of 425 pigs changing hands at late rates. Store pigs were again keenly sought after. There was a large yarding of dairy cattle and anything showing quality | sold well, but ordinary and inferior i sorts were dull of sale. The advertised herd of 30 Jersey cows changed hands at satisfactory prices. A good number of dairy heifers were yarded, and good quality ones met with keen competition, but others met with a slacker demand. The cold snap during the past month has checked the growth, of grass and farmers are not anxious to stock up too heavily. Prices were:— Cattle. — Fat bullocks, heavy £ls ss; medium £l3 10s; light, £l2 to £l2 12s. Heavy fat cows, £9 to £lO 15s; medium £7 2s to £8 11s; light £5 12s 6d to £6 ss. Forward conditioned cows, £4 15s to £5 6s. Store cows, fresh, £3 to £4 10s. Boners, £1 10s to £2 10s. 2-Year empty heifers, £3 10s to £5. Yearling heifers, £3 to £5 3s. Yearling steers, £3 16s. Service bulls, £8 to £lO 10s. Sheep.— Fat wethers 25s to 25s lid. Fat ewes 16s 9d to 17s. Fat hoggets, 20s lOd to 225. Pigs.— Medium baconers, £3 to £3 3s; light, £2 15s to £2 18s. Heavy porkers, £2 10s to £2 12s; light, £2 5 s to £2 Bs. Good stores, 38s to 425. Slips, 30s to 335. Best weaners, 25s to 28s; smaller, 13s to 18s. HAMILTON. There was. an average yarding of beef at the Frankton stock sale on Tuesday and good sales were recorded for prime quality, but competition for other sorts was not keen. Fat ewes declined in price but goodquality wethers made full late rates. A good yarding of fat pigs met with poorer competition, but stores and weaners were in steady demand. Cattle.— Light fat bullocks £lO Is to £l2. Prime fat cows £9 16s to £lO 17s. Medium fat cows £8 17s to £9 Bs. Light £7 12s 6d to £8 10s. Forward-conditioned cows £5 10s to £6 7s. Pigs.— Heavy choppers £3 13s to £4 7s. Light £2 11s to £3. Heavy baconers £2 18s to £3. Light £2 13s to £2 17s. Heavy porkers £2 11s to £2 15s. Light £2 8s to £2 10s. Store pigs 34s to 41s. Slips 26s to 325. Weaners 20s to 295. Sows in pig £3 15s to £5 ss. MATAMATA BULL SALE. The first Matamata pedigree and grade Jersey sale this season wasconducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on Friday. The entries very good, but quality was not up to usual standard in condition and general get up. Prices on the average were £3 to £4 below those ruling last year and competition was fair.
