MORRINSVILLE BRANCH. Home Industries Display. One of the largest gatherings yet held by the Morrinsville branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union took place on Friday, the president, Mrs. A. I. Walker, presiding over 60 members, including nine from the Te Aroha branch. During the afternoon songs were given by Mesdames A. Topham and E. K. Hitcliman, and afternoon tea was served. A display of home industries work done by members created a great deal of interest. Among the articles were children’s garments, knitting, cushion covers, table covers, paintings in oils, wool rugs, preserves, vegetables, flowers and paper flowers. It was decided not to hold meetings in December, January and February, owing to the difficulty of members attending meetings in midsummer. The November meeting is to be held in the Parish Hall, as the usual meeting ‘place, the Mosonic Hall, will not be available. At the next meeting a demonstration of icing a Christmas cake will be given by Mr. F. Marx. The offer of a Christmas cake from Mrs. Aitlcen was accepted with thanks. The housekeeping committee reported that a housekeeper would shortly be available for the Morrinsville district, and members were asked to supply the names of those needing housekeepers in the future, so that the Morrinsville branch could secure a permanent housekeeper.
