COUNTY PROSECUTIONS.

MOTORISTS FINED. Charges for various breaches relating to motor regulations were brought by the Matamata County Council (Mr. Lewis) against several people at the August sitting of the Putaruru Court, before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M. Without Driver’s License. Hugh Benton was charged with driving a motor car without a driver’s license. Fined 10s and costs. Using Prohibited Road. H. E. Munro, charged with operating a motor lorry on a prohibited road, was fined £1 and costs. Without Driver’s License. H. A. Anderson, charged with driving a motor car without a driver’s license, was fined 5s and costs. W. C. Anderson, charged with driving a motor cycle without a driver’s license, was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. Illegal Use of Road. W. C. Gutsell was charged with operating a motor lorry on a prohibited road. Thomas Weir, a foreman in the employ of the County Council, gave evidence of seeing the lorry on that portion of the Tokoroa road which was prohibited for the use of lorries. When questioned the defendant said that he did not know that the road was closed. Convicted and fined £2 and costs.
