CONVEYANCE OF CHILDREN.

(To the Editor). Sir, —In a recent issue of the Herald there is a piece about eight little Maori children being conveyed to school 3S miles per limousine taxi at the expense of the Education Department. Well, Mr. Editor, this hits somewhat hard, as some time back the settlers round here tried to get the Auckland Board to provide some mode of conveyance in order to get the children of this district to school, a distance of five miles, but this request was refused. Now they have to ride, some five miles and over, winter and summer. I think if it is possible for one district to provide taxis it should be possible for the Auckland Board to do so, even if it only be a Ford ton truck. —I am, etc., FOUR MILE.
