Dairy Meeting. The animal district meeting of suppliers to the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., was held on Thursday evening and was presided over by Mr. F. Jones. The general manager, Mr. Parlane, and Mr. Missen were in attendance, and gave a full and comprehensive re-* view of the company’s operations to the end of February. These dist closed that there has been considerr. able increase in the size of herds, and ! consequently a corresponding increase in the . output throughout the territory in which the company operated. Messrs. P. Cannell, H. Mann, A. J. Edmiston, E. Benge and F. Germahn (convenor) were elected a suppliers’ committee for the ensuing year. Gold Queen Function. On Saturday afternoon a garden fete was held at the residence of Mrs. F. Downie, Hinuera road, to augment the Hest Room Funds. Displays of folk dancing were given by some of the school pupils, and croquet, quoits and guessing competitions provided sources of entertainment during the afternoon, while the fish ponds proved a great attraction to the smaller fry. jXf* The following were the prize win''r' ners for the various competitions:— Turkey, Mrs. G. Conder; dinner, Mrs. F. Richmond, junr.; aluminium ware, Mrs. Wade and Mrs. Birtles ; baby’s wear, Mrs. Sanderson and Mrs. Tisch; iced cake, Mrs. J. Hayes; cheese, Mrs. F. Richmond, junr.; chocolates, Master Stanley Rowe ; clock golf, Mrs. T- De Renzy; target croquet, Mrs. E. Carmell; chain stepping, Mr. F. Downie. Mesdames Downie and Calder served afternoon tea, and these ladies, with Mesdames Griffiths and Swan, are to be congratulated on the successful .and happy afternoon.
