MATAMATA POWER.
WORK DURING MONTH. Reporting on work in the Matamata district, the engineer to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board stated at Tuesday’s meeting that to facilitate switching and to make provision for taking 11,000-volt supply to the northern end of Peria road the link between Stock road and the Matamata depot was being bridged on the Waharoa road, and 11 35-foot poles were being erected. In conjunction with this, seven 35-foot poles had been erected on the road to Peria. Work was still proceeding. The 35-foot poles at the top of the hill near Horahora were replaced on February 10. These poles had been damaged by fire some months previously. A 30-foot pole outside the Putaruru Town Hall was replaced by a 35-. foot pole. This change was made necessary because of the reconstruction and regrading of the road. A 35-foot pole near Piarere school, Hinuera Valley, was replaced on account of rot, and a 30-foot pole adjacent to Holmes’ property on the Matamata-Te Poi line was replaced for the same reason. Heavier demand necessitated the increasing of the 400-volt line to 7/16 for 40 chains from Randrup’s transformer, Hinuera Valley, and from Underwood’s to McDonald’s at Okauia. The 3300 - volt transformer at Gubb’s corner, Tirau-Waiomo, was replaced by a 15-k.v.a. 11,000-volt transformer on the new supply on February 6. The three single-phase transformers at Puckridge’s, Taihoa road, were replaced by one threephase transformer on February 11.
