Lichfield.

ANNUAL SPORTS. Successful Function. The annual sports postponed from Boxing Day was held on “ Goodwood," Mr. R. Lloyd’s farm at Lichfield, on Saturday. There was a large attendance, but unfortunately a heavy thunderstorm came on about one o’clock and the teeming downpour that followed made things somewhat uncomfortable. However, the weather cleared up and the interrupted programme was got off expeditiously. A large committee of ladies and gentlemen worked unselfishly to make the function a success, and it is in no invidious spirit that mention is made of the services o± Mrs. Allwood, Messrs. H. R. Dimond and H. Pepperell. The horse events were particularly attractive, and as one lady remarked, it was almost as exciting as being at Ellerslie. The day of the horse is a long way from being a thing of the past, at least as far as Lichfield is concerned. The hospitality of the Lichfield folk was in evidence, and everyone had a jolly time. The children were especially catered for, and the morning was devoted to a sports programme for them. Results. t Sheaf Tossing: J. Trotter 1. Married Men’s Race: Cadman T, Pepperell 2, J. Baldwin 3.
