MATAMATA. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. held their usual stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when there were good yardings of cattle 1 and pigs, a heavy yarding of lambs and a medium one of fat sheep. Everything was sold under keen competition, late rates "being maintained throughout. Prices were:— Cattle.— Heavy fat cows, £8 10s to £9 ss. Medium fat cows, £7 10s to £8 7s 6d. Light fat cows, £6 7s 6d to £7 7s. Forward conditioned cows, £5 11s to £6 10s. Store cows, £4 9s to £5 ss. Cows and calves, £7 3s to £8 14s. Steer calves, £2 2s to £3 Is. Jersey heifer calves, £3 to £3 16s. Poor sorts, £1 9s to £2 12s. Potting bulls, £5 15s to £B. Sheep.—Fat 2-tooths, 20s 5d to 24s lOd. Fat wethers, 23s 6d. 2-Tooth ewes, 80s 6d. Best mixed-sex lambs, 13s 4d to 17s 3d. Others, 10s lOd to 13s Id. Pigs.— Heavy baconers, £4 5s to £4 9s. Medium baconers, £3 18s to £4 2s. Light baconers, £3 10s to £3 15s. Heavy porkers, £3 6s to £3 12s. Light porkers, £2 18s to £3 3s. Good stores, £2 2s to £2 10s. Slips, 33s to 375. Weaners, 16s to 275. MORRINSVILLE. A total of 515 pigs of all classes came forward at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Morrinsville sale on Friday. Competition for pigs was keen, the whole yarding being quitted under keen competition. A line of 60 heavy baconers on account of Mr. J. Graydon averaged £4 12s, while lines of 29 and 26 on account of Mr. R. J. Mears made £4 12s and £4 10s respectively. There was a heavy yarding of sheep, about 2000 being yarded, compared with about 600 last sale, and a medium yarding of fat and store cattle. Fat sheep maintained their values, while lambs were still keenly sought after. Beef was slightly easier. Rates were:— Pigs.— Heavy baconers, £4 8s to £4 12s. Medium baconers, £4 to £4 ss. Light baconers ,£3 10s to £3 15s. Heavy porkers, £3 7s to £3 12s. Light porkers, £2 17s to £3 4s. Good stores, £2 Is to £2 10s. Slips, 33s to 395. Weaners, 16s to 30s. Cattle. — Heavy fat cows, £9 to £ll 6s. Medium fat cows, £8 to £9. Light cows, £6 17s to £7 17s. Forward conditioned cows, £5 17s 6d to £6 6s. Cows and calves, £6 10s to £B. Heifer calves, £3 to ,£3 15s. Stosller, £1 5s to £1 15s. Sheep.— Fat wethers, 24s to 25s 6d. Fat ewes, 15s to 16s lOd. Mixed sex woolly lambs, best, 14s 3d to 17s. Others, 10s to 13s 6d. Shorn lambs, 12s to 14s 9d. Cull lambs, 8s 8d to 10s 2d. HAMILTON. At the Frankton sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on Tuesday there was an average yarding of beef and store cattle and a good yarding of all classes of sheep. Late rates were maintained for ox beef, while cow beef was slightly easier. All classes of sheep met with good competition and practically"the whole yarding changed hands at satisfactory prices. An extra large yarding of all classes of pigs came forward and competition was keen throughout, late rates being fully maintained. Quotations: — Cattle.— Prime fat bullocks, £l4 to £l4 6s; lighter, £ll 17s 6d to £l3 14s. Heavy fat cows; £9 to £9 17s 6d; medium, £7 19s to £8 15s; light. £6 7s to £7 12s 6d. Store cows, £4 to £6 Is. Vealers, £2 6s to £3 17s 6d. Shorthorn and Jersey-cross heifers, running with bull, to £6 12s 6d. Sheep.— Store two-tooth wethers, 22s 6d. Fat ewes, 17s 3d.
