SULKY SHEEP.
On Sunday night 1200 fat lambs from the Kereone Estate were railed from Kiwitahi station by a special train. Leaving the property at 9.30 a.m., they drove nicely for a mile and suddenly developed “ sulks,” refusing to budge an inch and lying prostrate upon the ground. The drovers experienced great difficulty in keeping the mob moving, having to send for extra men and dogs. The station was reached at 6.30 p.m., exactly nine hours to traverse four miles. Smart work was carried out in loading operations, which were done in about an hour and a-half. It is not generally known, states the Star Kereone correspondent, that sheep at times do “ sulk.” and determinedly refuse to keep going.
