BOARD LACKS INFORMATION. r Assistance of Engineer Invoked 1 To receive a deputation or not was a problem that confronted the Putaluru Town Board members on Tuesday night. Mr. C. C. Neal said that a deputation from the Mehtdoist Church deeired to wait on the board relative to the street works in operation near the Methodist Church. Mr. Barr Brown said that it appeared as if the position relative to the roads was in the hands of the - chairman of the Town Board (Mr. G. G. Griffiths) and the Main Highways Board, and the other members of the Town Board were not in it. The chairman (Mr. McDermott) said the matter the deputation required enlightnment on was an engineering one, and the deputation . should put their request in writing, . and it would be referred to the engineer. The Town Board members f were not conversant with the position. Mr. Neal retired to acquaint the .deputation of the board’s request. The board had settled down to other business when a knock was heard at the door, and in walked the deputation, consisting of Messrs. A. R. Vosper, Watkins and A. T. Morris. The chairman informed the deputation that the board could not give them any information. Mr. Vosper said that the church authorities wanted to make certain alterations, and they wished to know if the Town Board intended to carry the footpaths past the church. The chairman, speaking from 'me- , mory, said that he thought that the kt/, footpath would go past the church. In reply to Mr. Barr Brown, Mr. Vosper stated that they also wanted to know to what extent the bank Would be taken away. Further removal would make access to the church difficult, and the cutting was dangerous for children. Mr. Neal pointed out that at present the footpath was being made V 'Use of as a run up by cars, but this

would be against the by-laws. They wanted some approach to the church. Mr. Barr Brown pointed out that it ■was not necessary for the board to give entrance to any property. The chairman promised to get in touch with the engineer on the point raised.
