PARISHES CLAIM BABY.
When a baby was bom at The Paddocks, Crews Hill, near Enfield (England) an interesting problem arose. In which parish was the baby bora? The registrars of the three districts of Northaw, Cheshunt, and Enfield had to decide the matter. The house (says the London “Daily Chronicle”) stands in two counties, Middlesex and Hertfordshire, and the boundaries of the three parishes named above run through it. Before the birth of the baby could be registered, a visit to the house by the registrars concerned was necessary. It was found, after several maps had been consulted, that the room in which the baby was bojl> [ wis in Cheshunt parish. The Paddocks, which is an pl§ house dating from the days of Com- ■ monwealth, has recently been restored. The owner has to pay rates of the house to three authorities.
