MATTER OF A FENCE.

BOARD MEISIBER OBJECTS. Nice Spot Spoiled. Strong objection to the corrugated iron fence erected along the Arapuni road side of the Bowling Club’s green was voiced at the December meeting of the Putaruru Town Board on Tuesday evening, the principal objector being Mr. J. C. Tomalin. He contended that the fence spoiled a nice spot, and he would not mind contributing 10 shillings towards taking it down. Mr. McDermott said the permit had been issued for the simple reason that they had no power to object. He had offered to donate a live hedge. Mr. Yandle said the fence was erected to provide shelter for a hedge fence to be planted later. Mr. Tomalin, after again stating that the fence disfigured the Arapuni road, asked to have his vote recorded against the matter.
