Mangatapu.

“Parents’ Day.” A very enjoyable • function took place last Tuesday, when a “ parents’ ” afternoon organised by the schoolmaster, Mr. Schrafft, was given by the scholars in the Mangatapu school, when practically all the mothers and other lady residents were present. The visitors were very interested and pleased with a display of high quality work done by the children in drawing, writing, nature studies and various handworks, .which reflected great credit on the This was followed by a concert, when practically every child / in the school gave an item. Also, [ several records were played on the gramophone, which through the efBv forts of the school committee was recently purchased and handed over for the use and benefit of the school. The committee, which by the way is the first and only “ all ladies ” committee in the Dominion, deserves great credit for the able manner in which it is handling the manage- , ment ,of the school, and with the assistance of the master, who takes such a keen interest in his scholars, the local residents should and do appreciate the splendid opportunities which their children have of obtaining the groundwork of a good education in such a small settlement as Mangatapu.
