MORRINSVILDE. High Prices Maintained. Advance in Beef. The offering was a good all-round one and the attendance of buyers was large, every line offered changing hands under keen competition. Prices for bullocks and cow beef advanced. A line of 120 forwardconditioned bullocks from the Waingaro district met a keen demand and sold up to £ll 10s. Fat bullocks brought up to £l6 10s. Young cattle sold well, while prices for stores showed a tendency to advance. Late rates were maintained in the pig section. Baconers showed a tendency to drop on account of the strike of Auckland butchers, but the unusually high prices for weaners and slips were maintained. Prices for sheep were firm with a tendency to advance. Few dairy cattle came under the hammer, and the quality left much to be desired. Prices were as follow: Beef.— Fat steers £l4 18s to £l6 10s. Smaller fat steers £l3 18s to £l4 11s. Fat cows £lO Is to £lO 16s. Medium fat cows £8 15s to £9 17s 6d. Light fat cows £7 7s 6d to £8 ss. Forward-conditioned cows £6 15s to £7 ss. Store cows £4 5s to £6 9s. Boner cows £1 10s to £4 3s. Cows with calves £7 12s 6d to £lO ss. Three-year-Old forward-conditioned Shorthorn steers, best £io 10s to £ll 10s, others £9 to £9 17s 6d. Four-year-old forward - conditioned Holstein steers £lO 2s 6d to £lO 15s. Two-and-a-half-year-old Shorthorn steers £B. Two-year-old empty heifers £5 15s to £7 175." PUTARURU. The October sale of the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company took place on Thursday. There was a large yarding of cattle, but buyers were inclined to be cautious, with the result that many lines were passed. Pigs sold at good prices. Prices w're as follow: Cattle.— Empty cows £5 13s to £7 10s. Poorer sorts £4 2s to £5 12s 6d. Empty heifers £6 to £7 ss. Yearling heifers £4 19s to £6 ss. Yearling steers £5 2s. Sheep.— Empty ewes 11s. Ewes and lambs 225. Hoggets m.s. 275. Fat ewes 225. Pigs.— Good pigs 29s to 455. Weaners 21s to 245. Sow £4 10s.

HAMILTON. Beef Remains Firm. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s sale at Frankton on Tuesday there was a good yarding of cattle and a medium yarding of sheep. Competition was keen throughout, and increased prices were realised for steer and cow beef. Store cattle and sheep were sold at late rates. There was a good yarding of fat and store pigs, and prices were slightly below last week’s quotations. Dairy cows came forward in average numbers and met with a ready demand. Prices were: — Beef.—• Fat steers £l4 6s to £l4 16s. Medium fat steers £l2 11s to £l3 7s 6d. Fat cows £lO 13s to £l2 14s. | Medium fat'cows £8 19s to £lO 11s. 1
