A HIGH AVERAGE.

X VEHICLES IN DISTRICT. 1 One Per 6.37 Head of gK ' Population. ' The Morrinsville, Matamata and Putaruru districts are recognised as being among the richest in dairying wealth in the Dominion. It has been -computed that within a radius of 15 miles of Morrinsville there are over -50,000 head of dairy stock, of a total -rvalue of £874,000. The figures for Matamata and Putaruru would no ■doubt be almost equally impressive Were they available. The Piako county lays claim to being the wealthiest in the Dominion. These figures are borne out by the high average of motor vehicles per head of population registered in the districts mentioned.

It is estimated that there is an average of one motor vehicle to every 6.37 head of population.

*■ The figures are only approximate bwing to the difficulty in arriving at an estimate of the population. On ■ census statistics, however, and a -close study of the growth of the dis- - tricts, it may be claimed that the figures are as near to accurate as it is possible to get. The number of cars and motor vehicles registered at the eight post - offices in the district for the current year was 2252. Taking the popula- - fgua of the area under t review at the average works out at - 6.37.

The registrations at the individual post offices are as follow: Morrinsville.—-Cars and commercial vehicles, 670; motor cycles, 90. Matamata.—Cars, 479; commercial Vehicles, 87; motor cycles, 84. Putaruru. —Cars, 283; commercial vehicles, 77; motor cycles, 58. Walton.—Cars, 88; commercial vehicles, 13; motor cycles, 9. Waharoa.—Cars, 93; commercial vehicles, 20. Patetonga.—Cars, 35 ; commercial vehicles, 6. Waitoa.—Cars, 146; commercial vehicles, 44. Tirau.—Cars and commercial vehicles, 211. The average given above does not include motor cycles.
