METHODIST HOME MISSION.

MAORI CONCERT. A crowded house greeted Rev. J. Seamer and his Maori party on the occasion of their annual visit to Putaruru on Thursday. After a welcome carried out in Maorf custom the party gave an entertaining and varied programme. Waiatas, poi dances, hakas, Maori songs, duets and choruses followed in rapid succession, and the hearty applause and numerous encores showed that the audience appreciated the efforts of the performers. The accompaniments were generally played on stringed instruments. The outstanding item from a musical point of view was the rendering of Hill’s “ Waiata Poi ” by a young lady v-ho hailed from Otago. Not the least interesting portion of the programme were the remarks made by Rev. Seamer in introducing the performers.
