LAVENDER LOTIONS.
MADE AT HOME. If you are able to ontain any quantity of dried lavender, you wiil find it a pleasant and simple task to make certain lavender lotions for your toilet.
To prepare lavender water, place two large handsful of the flowers and a pint of .vater in a covered pan, and allow to simmer over’ a steady flame for about half an hour. When cool, strain the liquid, add six drops of grain alcohol, bottle and cork tightly. Lavender water-softening lotion is equally easy to prepared. Take four ounces of the dried flowers, fo*ur ounces of rice, and eight ounces each of pearl barley, flue oatmeal, and bran. Put all together into a saucepan with three quarts of water, and simmer J slowly for one hour. Strain when cool and bottle for use. A tablespoon ful of this lotion added to the water in the wash-bowl morning and evening makes a delightfully soft and refreshing face bath, and leaves the skin beautifully smooth. Lavender, vinegar costs very little made at home. Mix well together four ounces of dr : ecl lavender flowers and two ounces of dried rose leaves. Pour over them tw~ pints of best white vinegar, shake together la a bottle, and leave for twenty four hours. Next day; add half a pint of rose water and shake again. The mixture shouM now be allowed to stand for ton da vs. after wMr»N time it may be strained and bottled for use.
