My Hat ! Brown had been in the hospital a - week, gradually recovering from an operation for appendicitis. On each aide of his bed were two other rather friendly patients. Said one to Brown: “ Say, I’ve had two operations since I’ve been in here—once for appendi- . citis; then the doctor discovered he had left his knife in me.” Said the other patient, on the opposite side of Brown: “ Yes, I’ve had two operations, too—one for appendicitis, and the other for a pair of pincers that the same doctor left in me.” Just then the doctor poked his head in the door, saying: “Has anybody here seen my silk bat t”
