PIG-MARKETING,
ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH. In its report on operations during August the New Zealand Pig Marketing Association states that very few pigs came to hand, this being one of the slackest periods of the season. At the moment it was found hard to meet demands and the association could have sold many hundreds of pigs had supplies been available. Markets for porkers and baconers are maintaining steady prices and prospects look very bright for the coming season. All pools up to number 12 are now finalised, this pool embracing all pigs supplied to the association up to the end of last March. Owing to the length of time it takes to receive final settlement from the United Kingdom the association is unable to finalise very speedily but is using its best efforts in the matter of quickening up final payments. It is hoped before long to finalise on the balance of the season’s pools, viz., numbers 13 and 14. This will finalise the season’s operations completely.
