DAFFODIL SHOW.
. BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS. A Successful Function. The fourth annual daffodil show tinder the auspices of the Putaruru Anglican Church was held on Wednesday and from flower point of view was an unqualified success. The attendance of the public, afternoon and evening, was disappointing, though the lack of entertainment for the young people was no doubt largely responsible for this. In future years, the committee would be wise if they gave the matter of entertainment serious consideration. The flower section occupied the centre of the hall, and the display of blooms stood well out against a background of black. The many beautiful flowers on exhibition spoke I well for the enthusiasm of local flower lovers, and as one person remarked, one would not think that such splendid flower gardens, as the blooms must have come from existed ' in Putaruru. The judges, Messrs. -Gotidie and Thorpe, stated that the quality of the blooms was even better than that of last year. There were large entries in the daffodil section, but the other sections were considerably .weaker. Mr. K. McDermott succeeded in winning the Putaruru Daffodil Cup, presented by Mr. H. Robinson, for the second time in succession in a strong class. A strong. committee; with Mr. K. McDermott as secretary, and Mr. F. Beca as assistant secretary, had the arrangements well in hand, and it is not invidious to say that Mr. McDermott had reduced the work of \ running a daffodil show to a fine art. T~ The other members unselfishly co-op-erated. In addition to the show the ladies of the church conducted a bazaar in miniature and their efforts swelled the financial side of the function.
