.WAIKATO EAST SUBASSOCIATION. Annual Meeting. The annual meeting of the Waikato East Lawn Tennis Sub-associa-tion was held at Tirau on Tuesday, when the president, Mr. J. Keane, occupied the chair. The annual report stated inter alia that the committee had pleasure in again recording another successful tennis season. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l9. Three new clubs affiliated during the year —Te Whetu, Kiwitahi-Kereone and Hydro—and the total membership was now over 500 club members.

Election of Officers. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr. C. Macmillan, M.P. ; president, Mr. J. Keane (Tirau); vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Rose (Tirau), S. J. Parker (Putaruru), H. Settle (Hinuera), J. Kirk (Waharoa) and J. T. Laurenson (Matamata); secretary, Mr. A. C. Thompson (Putaruru); management committee, Messrs. Bragg, Wilson, Oates, F. J. Peters, Ward, Hitchcock and K. Pond ; auditor, Mr. A. 11. Dukeson.

Affiliation Fees. The Waikato Lawn Tennis Association wrote to the effect that it would be necessary to raise the affiliation fees and stated that the opinions of sub-associations would be welcomed.

In reply to Mr. Laurenson the secretary said the present subscription was 4d per member. The suggested increase to 9d, if given effect to, would mean that it would cost the Waikato East sub-association £l7 or £lB.

It was pointed out that the parent body was in a rather difficult position as it had no courts of its own, being dependent on the use of municipal and cluh courts. Mr. Thompson said the fees had recently been raised from 2d to 4d, and to raise them to 9d would be rather a big jump. He believed they should help but he thought an increase to 6d should be sufficient. A member suggested that the same fees be sent to the Waikato association as were sent last year, with the suggestion that the New Zealand association be asked to reduce its fees. The president said the greater part of the Waikato association’s money went to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. It was generally held that the Waikato association was deserving of support, and on the motion of Messrs. Fitzgerald and Laurenson it was decided to recommend the delegates to approve of an increase to no more than 7d per member.
