PUTARURU. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company conducted the September sale in the Putaruru yards on Friday. There was a small attendance, due no doubt to the fact that the busy .season for farmers has set iri. There was a small yarding, the store cattle section being the strongest. Good prices for the quality offering were obtained. Several purebred lines offered on account of. Mr. Scholes were passed in, the prices falling far below the reserve. Prices were as follow: Cattle.— . Fat cows £8 to £ll 17s 6d. Forward cows £8 7s to £8 14s. - Empty cows £5 2s to £5 16s. Empty heifers £3 13s to £8 Is. Cows and calves £6. Cows (poorer sorts) £3 to £4 10s. Steers £3. Jersey bull £5 7s 6d. Dairy Cattle. — Sptirging heifers (good) £6 5s to £lO ss. Dairy cows £8 10s to £9 10s. Sheep.— Mixed-sex hoggets 245.

MORRINSVILLE. There was a large yarding of beef and a full entry of pigs at Dalgety and Company’s sale on Friday. Dairy and store cattle were penned in smaller numbers, and the former were by no means up to the quality ®f those at late sales, although any good sorts met with Spirited competition. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Waihou sale on Friday a heavy yarding of store cattle and an average yarding of beef was penned. The beef market was slightly easier. :■ There was a medium yarding of all classes of pigs, rates being a little easier. Prices were as follows: Beef.-* . Frankton yards on Tuesday. The sale was well attended, and the average yardings all round realised improved prices. Prices were:— Beef.— Prime heavy bullocks £l9 9s to £2O. Medium fat bullocks £l7 to £lB. Light fat bullocks £l4 to £ls 15s. Prune fat cows £l4 4s to £ls. Medium fat cows £ll 5s to £l3 14s, Light fat cows £9 13s to £9 17s. Light cows £6 7s to £8 10s. Sheep.— Fat wethers to 365. Fat ewes to 31s lid. Pigs.— Baconers £3 10s to £4 Is. Porkers £2 9s to £3 Bs.

CLEARING SALE. Mrs. G. Ryan. There was an attendance of several hundred at Seddon Park, Tura-nga-o-moana, on Monday, when the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., Ltd., conducted a clearing sale on behalf of Mrs. G. Ryan. Bidding was spirited throughout and good prices were obtained for all lots offered. The return from the herd of last season totalled 28,28341 bof butterfat from 97 cows, giving an approximate average of 3001 b per cow. One hundred: and. four cows and 10 2-year, heifers, all of Jersey-cross, were offered and all round realised the total of approximately £ISOO, the average being over £l4. The highest price paid was £22 by Mr. A. Elliott, of Te Aroha, while the largest buyer was Mr. Barclay, of Devonport, who purchased 24 animals at an average of £l6 16s.

Implements and oilier dead stock all fetched good prices, a few of the sales being: Top dresser £l7 10s, waggon £l3, hay rake £6, mower £6, harrows £B, stacker £29, sweep £ls. Farm horses sold from £26 to £33.

Two peng of yearling heifers of 17 and 9 wfere bought by Mr. J. Watson, Okoroire, at £8 6s and £5 15s. A bull Darling’s Boy, bred by Mr. J. Mouldey, Tirau, was bought by Mr. Barclay, Devonport, for 22gns. A 2-year bull fetched 114 gns and a 1-year bull 54gns, both being bought by Mr. J. Brumby, Manawaru. A pen of 27 calves fetched £2 15s.
