CHARGES FOR POWER.
MORRINSVILLE DAIRY CO. Explanation by Engineer. Particulars as to the progress made in regard to improvements promised by the Public Works Department and advice regarding proposals made some time ago were sought by the Morrinsville Dairy Company in a letter received by the Thames Valley Power Board at Tuesday’s meeting.
The engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod) said the new arrangement would mean a saving to the Dairy Company of £9O, and a saving to the board, by keeping the company off peak, of £lO5. Under the former agreement the price paid was £697, and the new rate reduced this to £609. The board stood to make about £3OO a year under the new rate. Sixty k.v.a. would be kept off the peak load, which, under the old arrangement, would come on the peak. The peak could be evaded by stopping the refrigerator during peak hours and this could be done for two or three hours' without disadvantage. Mr. Flatt: The right has been given to work on the peak load if they like. The engineer: If as a result of some accident the company had to go on the peak the ordinary industrial rate would be charged. If there was 50 k.v.a. on the peak one day and 27 on all other days during the month, industrial rates would be charged on the 50 k.v.a. for the one day only.
