Owing to the high cost of beef on the Dunedin market a movement is afoot among leading local butchers to obtain supplies of beef from the North Island, which can be landed at Dunedin at a very much cheaper rate. It is understood that a trial shipment of North Island beef will arrive in that city next week, and if satisfactory it is anticipated that the majority of butchers will obtain supnlios from the North while the present high prices prevail.
