MOMENTARY MUSINGS.
Perpetual action is the constant refuge of the easily-bored Presumably that is why, justly or unjustly, gamesmad folk are rarely credited with abundant grey matter. For action shortens life, and thought lengthens it. Those whose thoughts play round Life and the universe with cver-unabated interest do not complain of days that arc too long. Unlike the games-zealots whose joy consists in hitting a ball about, or focussing cerebral energy on red and black designs on bits of pasteboard, they are independent alike of the weather and of human partnership when the one is inclement and the other unattainable. Hence they feel, and seldom neglect to reveal, a sense of superiority over the ball-liitting and cardplaying fraternity. It depends on one’s mood w-hich is the more oppressive; the high-brows or the high-hitters and highbidders.
