FAREWELL FUNCTIONS.

A farewell tea was given by the Girl Liuides to Miss Moiiy Thompson on Saturday afternoon. Miss G. v osper, on beiialf ox the captain (Mrs. Dodson) and the Huides, presented Miss Thompson, who is aoout to return to her home in Wellington, with a silver pencil as a smt.ii tonen of appreciation of the goou work she performed as patiol leader. Regret was expressed at the loss of suen a good member. Before departing from Putaruru to their new home at Kaparoa, Mr. and Mrs. S. Edmonds were entertained by the Misses McCarroii and Wadis. Progressive bridge Was played, the winners being Mrs. Edmonds and Mr. Snell. Those present were Mesdames Snell, Reid, Crabb, Alcorn, Tulloeh, 1-iaise, Hutton, Miss Coupe and Messrs. Reid, Crabb, Hutton and Snell. Mesdames C. Alcorn and Tulloeh gave a very enjoyable bridge evening to Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Reid and Mi. and Mrs. S. Edmonds duting last week, as a farewell before the departure of their guests for their new homes. The ladies’ prize was won by Mrs. Edmonds and the men’s by Mr. Addenbrooke. Among those present were Mesdames Reid, Crabb, L. Francis, Halse, Edmonds, Snell, Misses McCarroii, Wallis, McLaren and Messrs. Addenbrooke, Snell, Crabb, Edmonds, and Reid. The competition was won by Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Reid.
