MATAMATA. On account of the wet weather on Wednesday there was only a small yarding of all classes at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Matamata stock sale. Cattle.— Heavy fat cows, £lO 7s to £l2. Medium fat cows, £8 8s to £9 15s. Light fat cows, £7 to £B. Forward store cows, £5 15s to £7 5.. Store cows, £3 to £4 15s. Jersey heifers, £5 10s to £6. Shorthorn hull, £8 Bs. Best dairy cows, £l2 to £l3. Backward sorts, £8 to £9 10s. Best Jersey heifers, close to profit, £l3 10s to £ls 10s. Backward sorts. £9 to £lO 10s. Backward Shorthorn heifers, £7 5s to £9 ss. Sheep.— Hoggets, up to 23s 4d. Pigs.— A small yarding of pigs sold at late rates. MORRINSVILLE. A smaller yarding of beef and store cattle than usual came forward at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday. Prices were very firm under a good demand. Few fat pigs came forward, but the yarding of stores was heavy and prices for well-grown pigs advanced under spirited bidding. Dairy cattle showing quality sold well. Prices were as follow: Beef.— Fat bullocks, to £l6 10s. Fat cows and heifers, heavy £lO 2s to £11; medium £7 17s 6d to £8 12s 6d, light £6 5s to £7 10s. Forward conditioned cows, £5 to £6. Fresh store cows, £4 to £5 ss. Heifer calves, best £4 5s to £5 15s, smaller £2 17s to £2 19s. Pigs.— Heavy porkers and light baconers, £2 16s to £3 -2s. Light perkers, £2 7s to £2 12s. Good stores, £1 14s to £1 19s. Slips, £1 6s to £1 11s. Weaners, 16s to 245. Dairy Cattle.— Best Jersey and Jersey cross cows, £ll 15s to £l3. Backward sorts, £9 10s to £lO 10s. Others, £7 10s to £8 10s. Best Jersey heifers, £l3 to £ls 10s. Backward sorts, £9 to £lO. Cows in milk, £8 5s to £9 15s. Bobby Calves.— Best bobby calves, 11s to 15s. Others, 5s to 9s 6d. Sheep.— Fat wethers, to 375. 9d. Fat hoggets, £1 4s to £1 ss. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Frankton sale on Tuesday there was an average yarding of steer and cow beef. There was keen competition throughout and prices showed an advance on late rates. A smaller yarding of fat sheep also showed a slight advance. Store sheep and cattle sold at late rates, while fat and store pigs met with keen competition and sold at increased prices. Prime baconers averaged 8d per pound, while porkers realised 7d to 7 ifl per pound. Cattle.— Fat steers £l3 15s to £l4 10s. Prime fat cows and heifers £l2 2s 6d to £l4 2s 6d. Fat cows £9 17s 6d to £ll ss. Medium fat cows £8 5s to £9 10s. Light £7 to £B. Forward £5 15s to £6 12s 6d. Stores £4 to £5 ss. Jersey and Jersey-cross yearling heifers £3 5s to £4 17s. Sheep.— Hoggets 18s. Ewes in lamb 29s 6d. Pigs.— Heavy baconers £4 7s to £4 14s. Medium baconers £3 17s to £4 3s. Light £3 10s to £3 15s. Heavy porkers £3 5s to £3 11s. Medium porkers £2 14s to £2 18s. Light porkers £2 5s to £2 10s. Stores £1 17s to £2 2s. Slips 2Ss to 335. Weaners 15s to 255. CLEARANCE SALES. Mr. K. Campbell. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. conducted a successful clearing sale at the Tirau saleyards on Thursday on account of Mr. K. Campbell, of Okoroire, who has disposed of his farm. The attendance was not large but every line was quitted. An attractive yarding of fat bullocks was offered, and representatives of several Auckland meat companies were the principal buyers. The following prices and local buyers were noted: Gray, Tirau, 10 fat bullocks, good, £ls 10s, £l6; R. H. Bailey, Tirau, 7 fat bullocks, £ll 10s; Blyth, Waharoa, 8 steers, forward, £8 14s, steers, small, £7 2s 6d. Fat bullocks purchased by the meat companies real-

ised £ll, £ll 15s, £l3 17s 6d, £l4 17s6d, £ls 15s. Fat cows ranged in price from £7 15s for smaller sorts to £l3 2s 6d for choice cows; prices were £ll 7s 6d, £lO 10s, £l2 2s 6d. A small line of fat heifers realised £4 7s 6d, Mr. E. Worth, Okoroire, being the purchaser. Sheep.—Hoggets, wethers, 23s fid, small hoggets 12s 6d to 14s 6d. The same firm offered, at the close of the above sale, a number of cattle on behalf of various clients. Prices were: Forward bullocks, £6 to £9 9s; empty cows, £4 15s, Mr. C. Allen, of Okoroire, being the chief purchaser. Mr. L. Bishop, Tirau, bought a line of yearling heifers for £6; Mr. E_ Worth, Okoroire, being a purchaser at £5. * i WAIHOU HORSE FAIR. No Demand for Hacks. Heavy Horses Sell WelL i In spite of unfavourable weather conditions there was a good attendance at the Waihou horse fair on Wednesday. The large number of entries sold at fair rates. Good useful farm horses, brought high prices and heavy draughts were well in demand and called for advanced rates. Buyers from Feilding, Hamilton, Marton and surrounding districts were present. In buying a heavy draught from Mr. R. McCabe (Matamata) for £3B 10s, Mr. J. Neill paid the higgest price of the day for a single horse. Other buyers were : A. O’Donoghue (Te Aroha West), from Barron Bros., one at £36 ; Mrs. J. Jack3on (Te Aroha), one at £3l ; T. H. McAlpine, from Barron Bros., one at £32 10s ; R. Campbell from McCabe Bros., oneat £32 ; G. Forbes (Marton), from C. E. Foote, one at £3O 10s ; M. Kiely, from 11. E. Candy, one at £3O. Hacks and lighter sorts were not in demand and realised very low figures, many selling at disappointing rates and others being withdrawn. The following is an indication of the prices : Heavy draughts from £24 to £3B 10s, lighter sorts £l4 to £22, useful farm sizes £S to £l2, hacks ST 10s to £9 ss.
