A Wanganui property owner, who lets a few houses had a remarkable experience the other day (says the Herald). One of his tenants had got behind by some six weeks in his rent and the landlord called to give him a gentle reminder. Producing a handful of sil%’er, the tenant invited him inside, at the same time offering to settle the arrears. The house owner adjusted his spectacles and receipted the rent book to date. He was in the »ct of removing his spectac’es when the rent book was snatched from under his nose by the tenant, who remarked: “There now, are you naid?” An argument ensued and the tenant then ordered the owner out of his own house. “ For bare-faced impudence that took some beating.” remarked the landlord.
