REVIVED IN NEW YORK. Nearly seventy years ano Dion Boucicault’s melodrama, “Ihe Octoroon,” - which was a huge success in America and England ant. her colonies, was produced in New York. Xu March last .y-. *it was revived in that City, and. in re-'‘f-enring to the event the New Vork Heraju-Tribune says: 4 ‘Dion Bouci* eault’s famous old melodrama. ‘The Octoroon,’ could scarcely be expected to stir a present-day audience as it did those who saw its first presentation at the Winter Garden in this city, on December 5 18.59, less than two months after John Brown ’s raid, and only four days after Ills execution. But there was real stuff in it then, and there’s real stuff in it still, and while the devotees of the cult of quaintness may amuse themselves with it if they will, the sturdy old piece is quite well worth seeing for its own sake. Boucicauit got a rough outline for ‘The Octoroon,’ it is said, from Mayne Reid’s novel, ‘The Quadroon,’
