COMMITTEE MEETING.
Work to be Put in Hand.
The Putaruru Beautifying Society met on Thursday evening, when there were present : Messrs. J. U. O. Lochhead (chairman), H. W. Lindsay, J. C. Tomalin, J. A. Ranger, IC. McDermott and A. Simpson. The chairman reported that it was impossible to obtain aspens for McKenzie street. He also stated that Mr. Goudie was of the opinion that redwoods were not suitable for Buckland road and that sequvia giganter be substituted. The report was adopted. It was decided to plant Mackenzie street with linden trees. The meeting’ decided to approve of a man being engaged, with Mr. McBeath to assist. It was resolved that the ultimate scheme of development in Bent road provide for the planting of deciduous trees, preferably birch and lime alternating. Several residents offered to defray the cost of planting the frontages of their respective streets, and this, together with the offer of trees, was accepted with gratitude.
