SMASH NEAR TIRAU.

CAR TURNS SOMERSAULTS. When being driven from Rotorua to the Maraetai forestry station on Sunday night a large taxi car from Rotorua, driven by Mr. Cavanagh, failed to negotiate a sharp bend near the Waihou river bridge and turned two somersaults into a gully. The driver was cut about the hands by glass from the broken wind screen, but only one passenger of four, Mr. T. A. Kemp, sustained injuries. The extent of Mr. Kemp’s injuries are not yet exactly known. The cause of the accident was stated to be bad visibility caused by a misty rain.
