HINUERA DAIRY VOTE.
OFFICIAL RESULT. New Election to be Held. The official returns for the recent election under the ward system for a new board of directors for the Hinuera Dairy Company, Ltd., are as follows: Ward 1. Hinuera—P. R. Hawke (unopposed). Ward 2. Buckland and Valley Roads—T. Corry 1117, H. Mann 1114. Ward 3. Olcoroire—W. J. Oates 1321, C. H. Collins 442. Ward 4. Te Poi—J. P. Harris (unopposed). Ward 5. Taihoa—J. E. West (unopposed). Ward 6. Matamata, Okauia and Peria—G. Johnston 678, I. Black 565, S. A. Clarke 113; informal 519.
The large number of informal votes in ward 6 was due to voters plumping for one candidate instead of voting for two candidates, as directed on the voting paper. At the annual meeting, shareholders by an overwhelming majority, decided that the old order of voting be reverted to, hut that the election be confined to the two members of the board who were due to retire by rotation.
At the conclusion of the general meeting the board of directors met, Mr. J. E. West being re-elected chairman for the fourth term. The position of the board following the adoption of the shareholders’ resolution, which meant the bulk of the new board would be elected under the ™’’ard. system and two members on the votes of the whole district, was discussed in detail, and a unanimous agreement come to that the whole board resign and a fresh election be held. Accordingly this will he carried out at an .early date, under the old system, whereby all shareholders vote for seven directors.
