“LITTLE ALPINE.”
WORLD'S FATTEST WOMAN.
In certain amusement centres of Florida ‘there has been featured of
late a young woman of 20, known only by the name of “Little Alpine.” The name is appropriate for several
reasons. Sho is a Swiss by birth, and
she is said in a small way, to resemble the Alps (says the San Francisco Examiner). Lest the latter statement be considered too hyperbole the sponsors of “L.ttle Alpine” are prepared
to produce affidavits as to her weight. Seven hundred pounds is the tonnage of the fat girl.
Before an admiring crowd at Miami recently “L.ttle Alpine” appeared on a flying field for the purpose of taking a spin in the a'r. Theoretically, it is her favourite outdoor sport. A small plane was chartered for the occasion. W th much ceremony, while cameras clicked, “Little Alpine” was helped into the plane as the crowd cheered. The motor started, the crowd waited for the plane with its rather more than usual freight to soar up I ke a bird.
But nothing happened. It was not the sort of plane which was built to carry 700 pounds in addition to the p.lot. ’‘Little Alpine” was forced to give up her flight for that day. The following day a larger plane was chartered, and the trip was a success.
For her comparative youth “Little Alpfne” claims to be quits the fattest young woman alive. There are said to be certain fat ladies in some of the circuses of Europe, who claim to weigh a few pounds more than 700. But they are all women of more or less advanced years—in their thirties and forties. “Little Alpine” has by no means stopped growing, and she grows only in one direction—outward. She is sure that by the time she is 30 she will have broken all world records by weighing over 1000 pounds.
Mosi fat ladies diet desi crately to reduce. Not so “Little Alpine.” She eats the starchiest, most fattening foods, in order to achieve her life's ambition. For the % past several months she has been gaining weight at the rate of two pounds a week.
