ROYAL ADVOCATE.
PRINCE BACKED ON TRADE. The Prince of Wales’ recent stirring call to British manufacturers to :get their share of trade in foreign and -overseas markets has bsen backed up by the report of the British economic mission to Australia. The mission, which consisted of Sir Arthur Duckham, Sir Hugo Hirst, Sir Ernest Clark and D. O. Malcolm, experts in different spheres nominated by the British Government, went out at the invitation af the Australian Government. Their report says:
“There certainly is not a proper understanding in Great Britain of the possibilities for trade with Australia.”
It goes on to urge among other things employment of competent agents who would be able to supply the goods demanded by local requirements, and also that the heads of companies visit Australia and acquire a knowledge of the openings for them there. According to a message which Sir Hugo Hirst has given to The Daily
News, the members of the mission were impressed greatly by the Americanisation of Australia. . “Foreign trade propaganda,” he says, “is going on in every direction m Australia, and America is particularly busy.”—N. Y. Times.
