SUZETTE
The trousseaux I have seen ! If only you had been with me ! I have stood transfixed before a vista of pastel georgettes, ecru laces and net , misted flowers, have suffered temporary loss of speech at the sight of gorgeous qualited dressing gowns, have grappled with and overthrown temptation in full view of piles of delicate linens and exquisite embroideries. Exhausted, I have fled to my roof tree, taken off my hat and longed to be married all over again. Yet you must hear —but how to portray these garments of mist and foam? Where to begin? Watch and I will make pass again, the nymphs I have but lately seen. Here comes one in a utilitarian (no one would suspect it, but the mannequin duenna distinctly said so) peach toned milanese pantie and vest set in one garment. See the deeper toned silk appliques on net.
And now approaches a dryad in two tone winunower blue georgette, brassiere and panties oiny, with picot edged petals on to winch tiny j net misled rosebuds have fallen. And after her a goddess in a bandeau of unrelieved black georgette witn closeiy gathered knicxeis, on each side poised a glorious embroidered Bird of Paradise, suspenued from ms beak a scroll containing two initial letters entwined. Under a black evening gown—adorable! This must sureiy be a mermaid who next swims in. A trailing nightgown of aquamarine satin (washable) with long low shoulder straps revepling a deep V at the back and with a hip yoke suggestion has for its only ornamentation an encrustation of crystal at the base of each curving shoulder strap in front. The bridal foundation set is of cream georgette with lace and tiny seed pearls. Here comes a bevy of athletic young things, in bandeaux and track pants only. Sporting girls will be greatly intrigued and will decide to have at least two sets in their trousseaux. Of daintily sprigged blazerstriped, dotted, checked, or flowered dimity, these are utilitarian. Time for one dressing gown—a marvellous adequate quilted affair in pale gold satin, with heavy raised autumnal embroidery, intermingling shades of orchid, rose and blue. of all, a kimono wrap of cream velvet embroidered in gold thread with turquoise motifs and long gold fridge. Clever fingers can reproduce this. See the white and gold moccasins with swan’s down - delicious! The linen list is too long, the interior decorations too numerous for this “ causerie.” Next week then.
