“ I am sorry to see the RotoruaTaupo line abandoned, as I feel sure there is a great future for the land that would be opened up,” said Mr. J. M. Allen, in proposing the toast of modern inland transport, at the annual smoke concert of the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union on Saturday evening. Mr. Allen said that when the line was put through to Rotorua over 30 years ago a great outcry was sent up that money was being thrown away. Now it was seen that the line was traversing some of the best dairying country in New Zealand and was paying handsomely.
