Selwyn.
Surprise Party. An enjoyable evening was spent when the residents of Selwyn gave a surprise party to Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Winter. Much fun was caused by several members who “ dressed up ” in the clothes of the opposite sex. Dancing and games were indulged in, the prize for the “ motor car wedding ” being won by Mrs. Macown and Mr. Lilly. The evening concluded at midnight with the singing of “ For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” Card Party. On Saturday evening a card party to obtain funds to purchase a gramophone for the school was held. : A fair number took part. The prizes were won by Mrs. Geddes and Mr. Taylor, and the consolation prize by Miss Wight. It is gratifying to record that together with money raised by a trip to the pictures, when with the kind co-operation of Mr. C. Brown, a fair sum was raised, the committee is now in a . position to realise their object.
