SOLDIER SETTLERS’ AFFAIRS.
INSTALMENT MORTGAGES. Policy of Department. With reference to the requests placed before the Minister of Lands by soldier settlers in the Morrinsville district recently, it is understood that when instalment mortgages are taken in lieu of . current account mortgages, the Crown Lands Office asks the settler to provide by way of further security an order on his milk cheque before the Department will satisfy the bill of sale. Mr. F. Lye, M.P., states that he has authority for pointing out that such orders will be put into operation only if default is made, so that the settler who has paid his way and continues to do so has nothing to fear from the point of view of signing such an order.
