PUTARURU DOMAIN BOARD.
ANNUAL MEETING. Following- on the June meeting of the Putaruru Town Board on Monday evening, the annual meeting of the Putaruru Domain Board was held, the members of the Town Board constituting the Domain Board. The annual report stated that no works had been undertaken duringthe year with the exception of cleaning scrub adjacent to the railway crossing, and the gradual filling in of a gully by the depositing of rubbish under the board’s supervision. The balance-sheet shows that the board have £93 15s lOd cash in hand. The domain in its present state is entirely unsuitable for sports, picnics, etc. In referring to the report, Mr. A. E. Barr Brown said that the practice •of dumping rubbish should be dis- ■ continued and a notice to this effect should be erected. The chairman (Mr. McDermott) -.suggested placing £BO of the credit balance on fixed deposit. He also suggested that a committee consisting of Messrs. Tomalin and Yandell be set up to deal with the sale of timber from the reserve for as long as the board as a whole dealt with this they did not seem to get much from it. Mr. Yandle was of the opinion that they should sell some of the black wattle in the domain, and Mr. Tomalin agreed. A brief discussion as to the blackberry and ragwort on the domain took place. Mr. Tomalin was of the opinion that these pests were there in excessive quantities. A committee consisting of Messrs. Barr Brown, Yandle and Tomalin was set up to deal with the disposal of timber. ■ _ It was decided to place £BO on fixed deposit as suggested by Mr. McDermott. Mr. G. Gilmore Griffiths was elected chairman of the Domain Board for the ensuing term.
