“ What is wrong with her ? ” demanded the auctioneer when the last of four cows failed to elicit spirited bidding. “ She may be a hit coarse in the head, but that is all,” he concluded. “ Yes, hut she does not milk out of the head,” retorted the owner amid much laughter. Fire totally deslroycd the New Zealand Dairy Company’s 10-vat cheese factory at Manavaru on Saturday evening. The fire originated near the boiler room and the flames spread rapidly. The books were saved but 200 tons of stored cheese was burned. The factory, a wooden building, was covered n.* a po’icy in the Eagle, Star and British Dominions cffice. Suitable arrangements have been made by the comnenv to handle the milk as usual and no further loss or inconvenience is anticipated.
