Public Library. This library has just purchased the series of volumes of the “ World Wide Travels ” of Frank G. Carpenter. These books are well worth reading for their vivid and wonderful description of the many countries through which the author has travelled. They are most fascinating to read, and are written in such a conversational style that the reader feels he is travelling with Carpenter whilst reading. His book on China, which he visited five times, is a specially interesting volume.
