MORRINSVILCE BRANCH,
A well-attended meeting of the Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held on Saturday evening, the president, Mr. G. Pirrit, presiding. Mr. Seifert made an appeal to all members of the union to urge their womenfolk to pay a 2s 6d subscription to the Morrinsville Women’s Divisioii of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Tlie president said he had been Surprised to learn of the extent of the activities of the division. It was an institution worthy of encourage- | Correspondence relating to the 1 thiion’s request to Dr. Annett, the j well-known authority on fertilisers, i for an address, was considered at I some length. . It was stated that Dr. f Annett was the employee of a ferI tiliser company, which would agree to a 1 lecttire being given only on certain conditions. These were that the lecttire was to be advertised by the uhion as being by courtesy of the Company, that circulars be sent out to the "same effect, and that reference should he made by the chairman to the company in his introductory -remarks. Members considered that while it was desirable to hear an address by Dr. Annett the stipulations could not be complied with. A motion was carried to the effect that, while appreciating the rood work done by the cormahy and Dr. Annett, the union coidl not become an advertising medium for any firm. It was decided commence the two meetings at 7.30 instead of 8 p.m.
