Hinuera.
Valedictory. A very enjoyable function took place in Hinuera hall on luesdsy, -when the residents of the district gathered to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. W. Addy, who are leaving the district after seventeen years spent here, to take up their residence In Whangarei. The hall was very prettily decorated and furnished for the T occasion. Mr. T. De Renzy acted as chairman and introduced Mr. and Mrs. Addy. Refrets at losing these popular residents and best wishes for their happiness in other spheres were voiced in speeches by Messrs. Stevens (Bank of New Zealand), H. Settle and Dr. Laurenson. Then Mr. T Corry, on behalf of the many friends of Mr. Addy, presented him -with a handsome travelling rug and 4.2. case of pipes. * During the afternoon items were given by Mesdames Clarke, Foster and Messrs. W. Settle, Southon and Stevens.

Conder, Mrs. Barnes, Mrs. F. Downey, Mrs. F. Richmond, Mrs. Hartnett, Miss A. Jones, Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Settle, /Mrs. H. Riley. Personal. Messrs. George Reisterer, Neville Pond and J. Lindsay have entered Massey College for the winter term. Miss Aroha Wright, of Auckland, lias joined the school staff. Miss K. Tisch and her uncle, Mr. Hopkins, have motored through to New Plymouth, for Jersey week. Miss Mona Germann spent the week-end at Te Awarnutu. . Mr. and Mrs. G. Conder and their three sons have been enjoying a holiday at Raglan. Mr. A. Randrup is visiting Auckland. , Mr. and Mrs. W. Oates are spending a vacation in Auckland, and are the guests of Mr. J. Oates, Mount Fden. ...... i Mrs. Harold Conder visited Auckland during the holidays. W Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hawke and family have been holiday making at f Thornton’s Bay, Thames. Miss Lolo Dap's'"' returned from a holiday at New Plymouth. Miss Katnieen ivi.uij.ay, ui Warkworth, has been paying a short visit to her home in Hinuera. Mr. Stan Collins is in New Plymouth. Mr. ana Mrs. P. Cotter and family have returned from a holiday in Auckland, where they attended' the wedding of. Miss W. Cotter, late of this district. Messrs. R. Marson and Barlow motored to Wanganui and are now in Auckland. Miss Mina Hammonds, of Auckland, spent the week-end with her sister, Mrs. Gordon Collins.. Mr. and Mrs. P. Hawke and fam- / ily have returned from a holiday, in Auckland. Miss Alma Conder is visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. E. Grimshaw and family are spending their holidays in Hamilton and Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. J. Calder are the guests of Mrs. Hugh Duffin, Glenmore, Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. W. McNab are in Auckland. Mr. J. Pon and family have returned from Kohimaramara. Mr. A. C. Rowe and Miss Dorothy Rowe have returned from a visit to Blenheim. Misses E. and A. Judd, of Thames, were recently the guests of Miss M. Oates. Mrs. W. Brindle and family have Wrleft the district to reside in Te Awamutu.
Mr. and Mrs, C. Seelly are visiting Hamilton and Auckland. A pleasing little function took place at the school recently, when the children presented Mrs. Alf. King who is leaving the district, with a book and two very nice cups and saucers, as little tokens of aporeciation of her kindness in making a beautiful wreath for the school each Anzae Day. Although she has at times been seriouslv indisposed, Mrs. King has never failed to carry out this little act of kindness, for which the teachers and pupils have been verv grateful. Owing to a prolonged epidemic of chicken pox the school roll numbers are still seriously depleted.
