ARMY TRAINING FARM.
METALLING ACCESS ROAD. Work for Unemployed. A letter was received by the Matamata County Council on Wednesday from Mr. Clinkard, M.P., stating that he had recently visited the Salvation Army Boys’ Training Farm at Patetere, near Putaruru. The road needed regrading and if the council liked to make an application to the Government for a grant he would be pleased to support it. Cr. A. T. Morriss said that something should he done, for there was a lot of traffic on this road. The engineer (Mr. M. E. Fitzger- < aid) said that to make it a satisfac- ; tory road it would be necessary to I reconstruct it. Some time ago he discussed with Mr. Hall Jones pos- l sible work in the county for the unemployed. and in view of Cr. Morriss’ remarks, and that the Army Home was a public institution, it might be as well to suggest this j road to Mr. Clinkard as suitable for providing work for unemployed. This suggestion was agreed to, -rid it was decided to reply to Mr. Clinkard in these terms. i
