JERSEY SALE. Good Prices Realised. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company conducted a sale of pedigree Jerseys on account of Mr. R. J. Wilson, of “ Ebor Farm,” Putaruru, on Monday. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Waikato. Only one lot was passed in, and this animal was disposed of privately. Thirty-four lots averaged 33 guineas, the top price of 60 guineas being obtained for Ebor’s Mystery, a cow bred by the vendor. MORRINSVILLE. An average yarding of beef sold at slightly easier rates at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday. Sheep sold well, fats and stores maintaining late values. Few dairy cows were yarded. Prices were as follow: Beef.— Fat cows, best, £9 to £lO 7s 6d. Medium fat cows, £8 to £8 10s. Light fat cows, £6 17s to £7 11s. Forward cows, £5 17s 6d to £6 10s. Store cows, £2 15s to £4 11s. Cows with calves, £6 7s to £7 7s Gd. Jersev heifer calves, choice, £5 12s to £6. Other Jersey heifer calves, £3 4s to £4 15s. Holstein heifer calves, £2 15s to £3. WEEKLY PRICES OF FAT STOCK The New Zealand Meat Producers Board advises that the following prices are being offered for fat stock for export at April 29, 1929: Canterbury. - Prime woolly lambs. 361 b and under 93d, 371 b to 421 b 83d, 431 b and over Sid ; second-quality lambs, S3d. Southland.— Prime woolly lambs, 361 b and under 9id. 371 b to 42!b Sid, 431 b and over Sd ; second-quality lambs, 361 b and under Sid, over 361 b 7ld. It may be noted that at the present time most lambs are being purchased by the head, consideration being given to the quality of the lambs and the valve of the skins. SHIPMENTS OF MEAT FROM SOUTH AMERICA. The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received a cable from its representative at Buenos Aires, South America, advising the following shipments to the United Kingdom for the fortnight ended April 25, 1929, from Argentine and Uruguay (the figures do not include exports from Patagonia, Chile or Brazil): 204,900 quarters chilled beef. 2675 quarters frozen beef, 64,929
carcases frozen mutton, 77,633 carcases frozen lamb. ' The quantity snipped to the Continent of Europe during the same period was as follows : 60,321 quarters frozen beef, 12,780 carcases frozen mutton, 2593 carcases frozen lamb.
